L.A. GUNS Frontman Says AMERICAN METAL BLAST Tour Has Been 'A Mostly Pleasant Blur'
August 13, 2005L.A. GUNS frontman Phil Lewis has posted the following message about the group's in-progress U.S. tour with W.A.S.P., STEPHEN PEARCY (ex-RATT) and METAL CHURCH:
"Back home in Babylon for a few days. The last six weeks has been a mostly pleasant blur. I try not to count but I think we just played 38 shows in 40 days! I have found new respect for W.A.S.P., Stephen Pearcy and his great band and incredibly underrated mighty METAL CHURCH. We even got to play a few shows on so-called nights off on our own and that's always guaranteed debauchery.
"'Don't cry for us Oklahoma!!! The truth is you never really loved us.' Sorry to the diehards out there, but every time we play Oklahoma City, it's a fuckin' train wreck… One day they'll get it right. But … Thank you Detroit, thank you Cleveland, thank you New Jersey. Both Carolinas, Florida, Jannus Landing in St. Pete, all the House of Blues people throughout the country, you all rock. Thank you, Steve, Adam and Stacy, for being that well-oiled machine behind me every night. Our crew, Dave and Darren and our driver, Ed, thank you too.
"By now, hopefully you'll be listening to [the new L.A. GUNS album] 'Tales from the Strip' and I sure most of you are going to love it as much as we do. Some songs you'll get right away and others you can savor. We'll deal with press reviews as they come. I've already read good and bad. That's okay. I can see how well the new stuff works live.
"'Cocked and loaded' and ready to get down to Texas for the second half of the tour with boxes of the new CD. I kinda went through a mid-tour Sam The Butcher and needed to get of the bus for a few days, but honestly, I've never felt more committed and confident about what we're doing and who we are. We have big plans ahead. I heard today we'll be back in Italy by September, and have even heard LONDON QUIREBOYS and HANOI ROCKS rumors flying around possibly in the U.K. and Europe."
